Picture Day

“What do I need for Picture Day?”

  • Most importantly, a big smile!

  • Wear clean, ironed clothes

  • If pictures at your school will be outside, make sure your child is dressed for the weather

With your help, our photographers will make every effort to get the best photo possible of your child!

“What if I’m not happy with the photo taken on Picture Day?”

Most schools will schedule retakes and you are always welcome to send your child on retake day! Once you have logged in and viewed your proofs online, you can decide if you want to wait until your child has been photographed on retake day to order your photos.

“My photo seems very dark, can it be fixed?”

The proofs you see when you log in are for posing and expression only, and they may print darker than the actual photo taken. We can lighten the final product if the actual photo is dark. Please contact us at 780-944-0800 if you have any concerns about the brightness or color balance of your proofs.

Ordering

“I missed my order due date, what can I do?”

We keep photos on file for at least a few years, so orders can still be placed past the deadline! When you order after the discounted shipping deadline, shipping fees will be applied, and your order will be mailed directly to your home.

“Where do I find my access code?”

Online access codes are given to students on the day of photography. If your online access code sheet is lost, just contact Smart Photography 780-944-0800 or info@smartphotography.ca and we will find your code for you!

“What is included when I pay for basic retouching?”

Basic retouching will cover minor facial blemishes only.

“What is included with advanced retouching?”

Advanced retouching includes all facial blemishes, redness and shine, lens glare removal and stray hair reduction. This option allows for more time-intensive editing including your requests such as teeth whitening, hair adjustments, wrinkles, tattoos, piercings, etc.

If you don’t send an email, your photo will be retouched at the discretion of the lab technician.

“How do I reorder photos?”

You can reorder photos using the same online access code received on Picture Day. Go to our smartphotography.ca homepage to place your order!

“How long does it take to get my photos?”

If your school offers delivery to the school, your photos should be delivered within 3-4 weeks of the proof deadline as noted on your order form. Single orders with direct ship to home are mailed within 2-4 weeks.

“Can I place my order over the phone?”

We want to make sure we process your order accurately, so we do not take phone orders. If you require online ordering information or assistance, please contact our office at 780-944-0800, or send an email to info@smartphotography.ca

Graduation Sittings

“What should I wear?”

We advise a shirt and tie, a collared shirt, or a shirt/blouse with a lower neck that won’t show under the gown. If you would like some poses without the gown and hat, you can wear a casual or formal outfit that you’d like us to include in your sitting.

“How long does a sitting take?”

Sittings take approximately 15 minutes. Please try to arrive 5-10 minutes early to relax and prepare for your session!

“How many photos do you take?”

We include 10 poses with each sitting. Students can request a specific pose if they want to. Just let the photographer know at the start of the appointment so they can accommodate requests

“Do you do casual portraits in the grad sitting?”

Yes, your graduation sitting comes with the option for 1-2 casual portraits. You can bring a separate outfit to wear, or props, uniforms, jerseys, etc. – anything that will personalize the session for you! We do have a small number of items such as diploma scroll and chalkboard available for use as well. Please note that large items, pets, or items that may be construed as a weapon should be given permission by the school before being brought to a sitting.

“What is the deadline on graduation photos?”

Graduation photos are not ordered or shipped through the school and will be sent directly to your home. There is no set due date – they can be ordered any time you want over the next few years! Please note that pricing and product availability is only guaranteed until the end of the school year, but you can order anytime that works for you!

“Where do I find my access code?”

Your online access code for your grad photos will be given to you on the day of photography. If you have misplaced your code sheet, just give us a call at 780-944-0800 or email at info@smartphotography.ca and we can track the code down for you!

“How long does it take to get my photos?”

Graduation photos may take up to 4-8 weeks to process. If you order a digital download instead of prints, it will be processed sooner than printed photos but will still take time to complete the basic retouching that’s included with your order.

“What products do you offer?”

A preview of our products can be seen when you log in with your online access code. In addition to a photo sheet or package, you can order Wall Plaques, calendars, collages, magnets, mugs and more!

No minimum purchase is required. You can order 1 single sheet or a package and any specialty products you want!

“What comes in a certain package?”

Packages for graduation photos are different than for school portraits. Our packages can include any poses and sheets (up to 8 x 10) - you get to choose! Select the package that has the number of sheets you want, and then choose your favorite poses, backgrounds and color options in any combination you like!

General Information

“Where are you located?”

Our address is #5, 10121 – 82 Avenue, in Edmonton. We are located right on Whyte Avenue, on the south side of the street. We are on the second floor of the building. Watch for the green sign on our door and come on in!

“Why isn’t anyone answering the phone?”

Due to the seasonal nature of our work, we experience an extremely high volume of calls at certain times of year. We make every effort to answer your calls as quickly as possible while still providing the best customer service possible. Please know that when you leave a message, we will return your call promptly. If you have called during regular business hours, we will make every effort to return your call the same business day, and all calls received outside of business hours will be returned the next business day.
